Accelerated Nursing Programs in Kansas
Are you an unemployed Kansas resident wanting to get good use out of your bachelor degree but there are no jobs that you can find in your field? Has your job been eliminated because of the economy? Would you like to get in and out of additional training that would almost guarantee you a job no matter what the economy is doing?
Almost any health field is a good choice for additional education, because people need health care no matter what is happening with the economy.
In the state of Kansas there are two locations that the American Association of Nurses currently lists as offering the accelerated Bachelor of Science degree for students with an unrelated bachelor degree. They are:
MidAmerica Nazarene University
Wichita State University
MidAmerica Nazarene University can be found at www.mnu.edu. They have an “early admit” option available for academically high achieving students. The accelerated Bachelor of Science (BSN) in nursing lasts only 12 months! Eligibility requirements are:
1. You have a BS or BA degree in another field from a regionally accredited college or university or
2. Are an LPN or MICT with 64+ hours of credit from a regionally accredited college or university or
3. Are HIGHLY motivated with at least 90 hours of credit from a regionally accredited college or university.
Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) is 3.00
The Wichita State University is currently accepting applications for the Summer 2012 accelerated BSN program. The web site states it is currently accepting applications for the summer 2012 program. webs.wichita.edu
This is an intense 15 month program of 57 credit hours, beginning in May. The tuition cost fro residents of Kansas is about $20k. It is about $35k for non-residents. There are additional fees and costs.

A registered nurse in the US can expect to make excellent wages right from graduation. Before entering the program, consider the intense amount of study and time this will take you. Also, if you have ever had a felony conviction in your life, you may want to consider another field and you may be excluded from getting a license with a prior conviction.
