Accelerated Nursing Programs in Kentucky
Use your unrelated bachelor degree to get into the much demanded profession as a registered nurse in Kentucky! Don’t waste years getting an entire degree that may take you years to complete. Get into an accelerated nursing program that lasts only 1 or 2 years in Kentucky!
With registered nurses making between $62k and $99k per year working full time, it may be worth your effort to get this bachelor of nursing degree using the classes and bachelor degree you are not using.
The accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is the fast track to getting in and out of college again as quickly as possible. Just make sure you have your prerequisites done before trying to get admitted. Work to get the highest possible scores in these required entry classes, as this will greatly affect where you are put on the list for admittance into the accelerated nursing program.

Eastern Kentucky University
Northern Kentucky University
Spalding University
University of Kentucky
University of Louisville
The University of Louisville accelerated BSN was approved in 2008. The prerequisite courses are:
Chemistry for Health Professionals
Introduction to Biological Systems
Introduction to Microbiology
Anatomy and Physiology I and II and Lab
Lifespan Pathophysiology
Pharmacology
Non-Science courses are:
Psych, Human nutrition, Math 109 (or soc 301 or psych 312)
Nurs 330, bioethics or phil 323 or phil 321 or phil 222)
The Spalding University’s accelerated BSN has a May start time and packages the program into 9 six-week sessions. They also have an “Extended Evening Option” that has an August start time. This is great for day time workers. Check out the website for the paticulars. www.spalding.edu
Bellamine University accelerated BSN is only a year long. The accelerated second degree BSN packet states they also have a two year accelerated and a three year part time option. Remember, as with all the accelerated BSN programs in Kentucky and elsewhere, you will need to get the prerequisites completed before acceptance. The application fee at Bellamine is $45.
Eastern Kentucky University is located in Richmond. The prerequisites are 15-16 credits. Students are admitted once each year in August. Applications are due March 1 of each year for the program that begins the following August. This is a 16 month full time accelerated BSN program. Students are strongly encouraged not to have any outside employment due to the intensity of the program.
