Accelerated Nursing Programs in Maryland
Good news for getting a bachelor of science in nursing degree in Maryland! You can use an unrelated bachelor degree from your past to get into a fast track program to become a registered nurse in as little as 1 or 2 years!
That’s right! The demand for registered nurses across the country continues to necessitate the accelerated nursing degree program.
If you live in Maryland and want to find out more detail, below is a list of the current colleges and universities in Maryland.
Bowie State University
Johns Hopkins University
Salisbury University
Stevenson University
Towson University
The second bachelor’s program at Towson University deadline is January 15 for the Fall term and August 15 for the Spring term. A maximum of 90 transferable credits will be applied to your second bachelor degree so that you do not have to meet the general education requirements. Also, you must complete a minimum of 30 units at Towson University and meet all the criteria for the “new” major. Other rules apply.
The only info I could find on the Stevenson website about the accelerated program centered on those that already are registered nurses. Go to www.gps.stevenson.edu.
The Salisbury University is accepting applications for the Fall 2012 class through December 1, 2011. You can complete this program with three full time semesters. Of course, like all these programs, you will need to complete your prerequisite requirements before being admitted.
The famous John Hopkins University accelerated BSN is found under “second degree options.” The application deadlines for early decision are November 1. Regular decision deadline is November 15. This is a 13.5 month option that begins in June of each year and proceeds to graduation the following July. Estimated cost of the accelerated option program excluding housing and other fees is $64,080 for tuition only.
You may find that the competition to get into one of the accelerated nursing programs in Maryland requires some waiting on the list. If that is the case, consider attending at another college or university in another state. There are many states offering the program. You may pay more outside the state and be very happy to be able to get the school out of the way so you can get to work.
With massive unemployment throughout the country, deciding what to do for you and your family can be stressful. If you find that the accelerated nursing option is too much for you to consider, consider another health field that is in demand.
