Accelerated Nursing Programs in New Jersey
New Jersey offers several colleges and universities that offer the fast track registered nurse training program across the state. Some of these schools will allow you to complete a very intense accelerated BSN (bachelor of science in nursing) in New Jersey in just one year.
A listing of the schools in New Jersey that offer the fast track registered nursing training is below. Remember, you must already have a bachelor degree to get into the accelerated track. The degree can be completely unrelated to anything in the health field.
Fairleigh Dickinson University
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey
Seton Hall University
University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey
William Paterson University
Two of the above locations offer a fast track Masters degree nursing program. They are Fairleigh and Seton Hall. These guidelines will be different than the bachelor of science in nursing.
The accelerated BSN at UMDNJ (University of Medicine & Dentistry) has 62 pre-licensure credits of nursing coursework that are offered at the Newark and Stratford campuses. This is a 15 month, full time program. They also offer an accelerated 30 month part-time accelerated BSN program. They currently do not allow you to apply to get into the program at both campuses at the same time.
Currently, you cannot apply for the fast track accelerated nursing program at William Patterson University until it resumes in 2013, according to their website.
Fairleigh Dickinson’s fast track BSN is only one year long! You must meet the prerequisites as well as have at least a 3.00 cumulative grade point ratio (CGPR) for the undergraduate degree. The prerequisites are: Anatomy and Physiology, General Chemistry, Microbiology, Statistics, Micro or Macro Economics and BIO or Medical Ethics. There is a 2 year accelerated nursing program at Fairleigh for those who qualify.
Seton Hall’s accelerated BSN can be completed in 14 months. This is a 65 credit program that is available only at the Georgian Court campus in Lakewood, New Jersey. 25 total credits will be allowed from your unrelated bachelor degree. The fast track program runs from September to October of the following year. Application deadline for the fall start is April 15.
Remember that you will have to take a license exam after you complete graduation to be able to practice in any state in the US. Registered nursing jobs in New Jersey are abundant, as well as in other states in North America. If the waiting list seems too long to get accepted in a particular school, get on the list in multiple schools in multiple states to increase the chances of getting in sooner.
