Accelerated Nursing Programs in New York
Getting into the fast track BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) training program in New York will require some ingenuity and persistence. Who offers it and how long does it take? What are the deadlines for application?
Registered nurses in New York are some of the highest paid in the country. The job outlook for registered nurses is expected to grow by 22 percent from 2008 to 2018, according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics. This means more jobs in the future. Choosing this career path appears to be safe. Below is a list.

The University of Rochester accelerated BSN application deadlines for a January start date is the prior July 1. The May start date deadline is the prior November 1. The September start date deadline is the prior March 1. The program is technically called “Accelerated Bachelor’s Program for Non-Nurses (ABPNN).
The University of Buffalo received a scholarship grant of $80k in 2010. Whether a part of that is still available to students in 2011, 2012 and 2013 will require you to contact the University directly. The accelerated program is only 12 months long! It is registered with the New York State Department of Labor as a “599 Training Program.”
The Lehman College accelerated (Generic) nursing program can be completed in one year. Please check directly with the nursing department for details as to what is required to get into it.
The Hartwick College is located in Oneonota in the northern foothills of the Catskill Mountains. Remember that the accelerated program is for individuals that already hold a bachelor degree in another field.
Columbia University of New York City has a combined BS/MS (ETP) program for non-nursing college graduates. Students begin the program in late May/early June. They usually accept a class size of 160-180 students. According to their website, 99% of their BS/MS entry students received a school of nursing scholarship of up to $32k, but it doesn’t state which year that was.
The accelerated BSN schools in New York are competitive and rigorous. You should not work if you get into a fast track program because it is very intense and requires much study.
