Accelerated Nursing Programs in Ohio

How can you get into a fast track nurse training program in Ohio? What are the prerequisites? How long will it take to finish? How much money will you make? What are the odds that you will get a job right out of graduation? Who offers the program?

The answer to these questions will help you make a good decision since registered nurse jobs in Ohio will continue to increase through the year 2018, according to the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics. The average full time registered nurse is making at least $62k.

The colleges and universities that are currently offering accelerated RN program in Ohio who have an unrelated bachelor degree are:

Walsh Universities accelerated RN program is 15 months long. Admission occurs every May. Walsh has onsite and satellite campuses in Akron, Medina, Canfield and just outside of Rome, Italy.

The Ursuline College accelerated BSN program for second degree students is offered at the Breen School of Nursing. This is also a 15 month program. A deposit is required to secure a seat in the program. The tuition and fee schedule for the 2011-2012 school year includes $657 for the undergraduate per credit.

Kent State’s accelerated BSN program entry possibilities offer extra options that the school looks at for acceptance. They will consider applicants with class related, extra curricular, job related, or volunteer experience with individuals and/or groups in a helping or caring setting.

The Akron College of Nursing accelerated BSN can be completed in 15 months. The class is selected based on your cumulative GPA. Students begin the program in May. Class selection is completed in January. Students that are not selected are put on the waiting list.

The Mount Carmel accelerated nursing applications start in February and must be received by May 31. This is a 13 month program. Like the rest of the accelerated nursing programs, you will be prepared to take the NCLEX-RN exam to get a state license to practice. The tuition for the 2011-2012 school year was approximately $30k.

Keep in mind that the prerequisites must be completed or near completion when you apply for the actual accelerated BSN program. Also, some colleges or universities allow your classes to be transferred up to 10 years after they have been completed, but most allow you to transfer them if they were completed in the last 5 years.
