Nursing is one of the most rewarding jobs in the health field. As a nurse, you will be able to interact closely with doctors and physician’s assistants, as well as the medical technicians for MRI, CAT, X-ray, and ultrasound. Nurses are very important positions in the medical field because they are often the ones that the patients frequently converse. Doctors may do diagnoses and examinations, but for the most time, the nurses are the ones that will be with the patients.

Just like the other nursing programs in other states, one option for you to consider is via community colleges. For those in North Carolina, you may consider Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, located in Asheville, NC. The program at Asheville-Buncombe allows the students to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) upon the completion to become a Practical Nurse.

To be admitted into the nursing program at Asheville-Buncombe, the student needs to be accepted to the Asheville-Buncombe first. Then, the student will take placement tests, and send in documents like the official high school transcript, issued by the student’s high school. The admission process is rather intricate because the admission awards the student “point value” to the placement test scores, work experience in the health field (they provide a list of jobs that they consider are work experiences in health field), and completion for accredited college.

The best way for the student to really understand how this point system works is by looking at the Word document available in the Asheville-Buncombe website (http://abtech.edu/Student_Services/admissions/allied_health.asp). Also, the students accepted in the nursing programs must have received CPR certificate from American Red Cross before beginning the program. Lastly, in some cases, the student may be required to do background screening and drug tests.

Now, for the remaining portion of the article, I want to tell you a key to finding the nursing schools in North Carolina. There are many programs that have title of nursing, so you will really have to narrow down what works for you. If you are completely new to the whole idea of health field career, you might want to consider schools like Asheville-Buncombe or start as a Nurse Aide. If you have some experience in the health field, then you need to consider becoming practical nurse or registered nurse (RN), depending on your location.

There are also other similar professions like CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) as well. CNA training takes very little time and can help a person get on the fast track to becoming an RN. In some cases, if you have adequate amount of experience, you may apply for programs with BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) as well. There are various options out there, but you just have to narrow down the one that applies for you.

Other information you might want to look into based on North Carolina is Raleigh Durham nursing schools, Winston Salem RN programs, and Charlotte LPN nursing schools.

The following schools may offer partial or full credit for a nursing course. Please check with a counselor before enrolling.

Appalachian State University in Boone
East Carolina University in Greenville
Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City
Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro
North Carolina Central University in Durham
North Carolina State University in Raleigh
University of North Carolina at Asheville in Asheville
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill
University of North Carolina at Charlotte in Charlotte
University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Greensboro
University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Wilmington
University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem
Western Carolina University in Cullowhee
Winston-Salem State University

Houston is one of the few cities in Texas that is growing quite a bit every year. With that in mind there is always a need for LPN nurses in Houston and surrounding areas such as the Woodlands, Sugarland, and even Conroe. But in order to get the training you have to do some research at the best programs and nursing schools available to learn what is needed in order to get a degree.

First you will have to look at your options of going to school in the day or in the evening based on whether you have children or have a day job. However there are a few options for you in the Houston area to get some proper nurse training.

If you are looking at going to a good school to get your LPN or LVN degree, you could go to Houston community college. They have available courses in the day and in evening.

Other options in the area include Alvin Community College, Lee College in Baytown and Galveston College for those who don’t mind traveling a little distance outside of the city of Houston.

Whatever your choice is, keep in mind that getting the needed certification and degree to become an LPN or LVN nurse requires a lot of effort, but if you enjoy the rewards of helping people then this might just be the career for you.

There are quite a few nursing programs in Texas, and if you are ready to take your caring attitude and put it towards the assistance of those in need, then this is the right move for you.

Some of the LVN nursing programs in Texas include the following cities. Houston, San Antonio, Fort Worth, Austin, Corpus Christi, and Dallas. While not all here will be discussed in this article, you will find more information on these cities, by visiting the cities page.

Concorde Career Colleges offers a course in Arlington Texas for those interested in Nursing Schools. They offer all the following programs in no particular order for those wanting to get into the medical field.

Advanced Respiratory Therapy

Dental Assistant

Dental Hygiene

Insurance Coding & Billing Specialist

Massage Therapy

Medical Administrative Assistant

Medical Assistant with Limited X-Ray

Medical Assistant

Medical Office Professional

Nursing

Patient Care Assistant

Patient Care Technician

Pharmacy Technician

Physical Therapist Assistant

Practical Nursing

Vocational Nursing

Radiologic Technology

Respiratory Therapy

Surgical Technology

This offers a wide variety for those who may want to get into a similar field. Another course which is available in San Antonio is TEXAS CAREERS. They offer Vocational Nursing. Houston Texas also has a similar school at the MEDVANCE INSTITUTE. These will both allow you to move forward with your choice to become a nurse. Obviously when you complete the courses you will have to decide if you will stay in Houston and be a nurse, or move. The pay in Houston for Nursing will vary, but because it is a large city, you will have quite a bit of opportunity to move up.
