Georgia has more than 44 schools throughout the major cities that provide nursing school degrees. Earning a student on his or her way into the medical field. Some of these schools offer excellerated RN to LPN nursing programs as well in Georgia if time is of concern.

The choice to make on a health care career can be a tough one too make, and even tougher can be choosing the school you will attend. Fortunately for most people living in Georgia, there are schools which aren’t too far from home. If you do have to travel, or don’t have the best transportation, there are fast track RN programs and LPN training programs which can help speed up the process of getting a degree.

Remember that just as in any other state, Nurses are in demand in Georgia. If you do need to take evening classes for nursing, many of the colleges offer this as well since it can be difficult for those with children to go to school during the day. Space is limited on those classes so you will need to make sure you enroll early for the semester.

Quite a few college students who enter the nursing field find that the cost of school for a fellow co-worker who is also paying off school loans, may have not have been as high because of the type of school he or she went to. With that in mind, we compile not only Universities, but local colleges which offer partial credit for nursing school which may save a student money.

Some of the smaller towns such as Anderson, Lawrenceville, Sparta, Tifton, North Decatur, Moultrie, Smyrna, Warner Robbins, Valdosta, Newnan, Mableton, Griffin, Forest Park and a few others will be listed on a future page, or added to this one in the near future.

Some colleges which we may or may have not mentioned already are listed below. Some of these schools offer various nursing programs of partial or full credit. Please check with a school counselor before making your decision. These programs cover LPN, LVN, RN, Nurses Aid, Nurse anesthetist and CNA courses.

Nursing is one of the most rewarding jobs in the health field. As a nurse, you will be able to interact closely with doctors and physician’s assistants, as well as the medical technicians for MRI, CAT, X-ray, and ultrasound. Nurses are very important positions in the medical field because they are often the ones that the patients frequently converse. Doctors may do diagnoses and examinations, but for the most time, the nurses are the ones that will be with the patients.

Just like the other nursing programs in other states, one option for you to consider is via community colleges. For those in North Carolina, you may consider Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, located in Asheville, NC. The program at Asheville-Buncombe allows the students to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) upon the completion to become a Practical Nurse.

To be admitted into the nursing program at Asheville-Buncombe, the student needs to be accepted to the Asheville-Buncombe first. Then, the student will take placement tests, and send in documents like the official high school transcript, issued by the student’s high school. The admission process is rather intricate because the admission awards the student “point value” to the placement test scores, work experience in the health field (they provide a list of jobs that they consider are work experiences in health field), and completion for accredited college.

The best way for the student to really understand how this point system works is by looking at the Word document available in the Asheville-Buncombe website (http://abtech.edu/Student_Services/admissions/allied_health.asp). Also, the students accepted in the nursing programs must have received CPR certificate from American Red Cross before beginning the program. Lastly, in some cases, the student may be required to do background screening and drug tests.

Now, for the remaining portion of the article, I want to tell you a key to finding the nursing schools in North Carolina. There are many programs that have title of nursing, so you will really have to narrow down what works for you. If you are completely new to the whole idea of health field career, you might want to consider schools like Asheville-Buncombe or start as a Nurse Aide. If you have some experience in the health field, then you need to consider becoming practical nurse or registered nurse (RN), depending on your location.

There are also other similar professions like CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) as well. CNA training takes very little time and can help a person get on the fast track to becoming an RN. In some cases, if you have adequate amount of experience, you may apply for programs with BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) as well. There are various options out there, but you just have to narrow down the one that applies for you.

Other information you might want to look into based on North Carolina is Raleigh Durham nursing schools, Winston Salem RN programs, and Charlotte LPN nursing schools.

The following schools may offer partial or full credit for a nursing course. Please check with a counselor before enrolling.

Appalachian State University in Boone
East Carolina University in Greenville
Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City
Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro
North Carolina Central University in Durham
North Carolina State University in Raleigh
University of North Carolina at Asheville in Asheville
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill
University of North Carolina at Charlotte in Charlotte
University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Greensboro
University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Wilmington
University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem
Western Carolina University in Cullowhee
Winston-Salem State University

Houston is one of the few cities in Texas that is growing quite a bit every year. With that in mind there is always a need for LPN nurses in Houston and surrounding areas such as the Woodlands, Sugarland, and even Conroe. But in order to get the training you have to do some research at the best programs and nursing schools available to learn what is needed in order to get a degree.

First you will have to look at your options of going to school in the day or in the evening based on whether you have children or have a day job. However there are a few options for you in the Houston area to get some proper nurse training.

If you are looking at going to a good school to get your LPN or LVN degree, you could go to Houston community college. They have available courses in the day and in evening.

Other options in the area include Alvin Community College, Lee College in Baytown and Galveston College for those who don’t mind traveling a little distance outside of the city of Houston.

Whatever your choice is, keep in mind that getting the needed certification and degree to become an LPN or LVN nurse requires a lot of effort, but if you enjoy the rewards of helping people then this might just be the career for you.

The salary for an LPN can vary greatly depending on location. In general it has been found that the major difference in pay increase is around the fifth year of becoming an LPN Nurse. There will always be a need for LPN’s no matter the location. Andrea, who we spoke to several years back mentioned that getting a job as an LPN in Nashville Tennessee was just as easy as getting a job in Raleigh Durham North Carolina. Despite there being schools and accelerated training courses in certain cities, getting a job as an LPN or RN is quite easy because of the growth and demand.

Initially you can expect anywhere from $25,000 to $39,000 in income for your first few years as a nurse. The payscale will vary especially with the cost of living as well. Places like Long Beach, Sacramento, California or Buffalo New York may pay quite a bit more than a place like Allentown PA. Or San Antono Texas where the pay scales are a lot lower than most places based on cost of living and saturation of the job market.

The best thing to do in any situation where money is an issue, or where you are deciding the pay will benefit you most is to carefully plan out the next few years before making the drastic changes on the fly. This allows you to be more in control of your life, and to have a clear perspective on why you are choosing a career.

If you are planning on going to a school, then you will want to attend close to the area you will be living after you earn the degree. If you will be taking most courses online, it will be good to begin thinking of the nearest college which offers what is needed to complete the course. Salary should never be the factor for making quick decisions. Just keep that in mind, and make wise decisions which will still provide a healthy salary as an LPN nurse.

Behind every great doctors and physician’s assistants stand respectful registered nurse (RN)s. Regardless of the hospitals people go in the United States, they will inevitably find RNs who will take care of them. In fact, the most of the patients only see doctors briefly. It is often the nurses, who are always beside the patients and observe for any anomaly or malady appearing in the patients. There is no doubt that becoming RN is a perfect way to choose your career to help other people.

A popular choice for becoming RN in Florida is the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Miami Dade College, which is located at Miami. A convenient fact about the Miami Dade College is its four options for applicants to become RNs. They offer two general options for either full-time or part-time students in which the students can choose to enroll in the programs at either Medical Center Campus or Homestead Campus with some on-site experiences at Baptist Hospital. If the student already is LPN, then the student is eligible for the Bridged Option, which is a bit more flexible than the general options. Furthermore, if the student holds a Bachelor’s Degree in any field, then the student can apply for the Accelerated Option. This option is the best among three, but the student must have had 15 credits in natural science/math courses with human anatomy and physiology courses.

For all four programs at Miami Dade College, the student must have completed the prerequisites with a minimum of C and already is a student at Miami Dade College. For the science courses that are counted for the program, no more than 3 D, F, or W are tolerated. The prerequisites in the program include Chemistry for Health Sciences (with Lab), Critical Thinking/Ethics, and Anatomy & Physiology I. There are total of 72 credits in which 42 are for nursing credits. With the Bridge Option, the student can choose to do some courses online. With the Accelerated Option, 30 general education credits out of 72 credits are waived. Regardless of the option they choose, they will be eligible for the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) upon graduation.

People can become RNs at community college as well such as the Florida Community College at Jacksonville, Florida. This community college requires 13 credit hours of prerequisites and a minimum GPA of 2.0. As far as the prerequisite courses are concerned, these include one year of high school chemistry or any college and other courses like Human Anatomy & Physiology I, and Microbiology. Just like the Miami Dade College, 42 credit hours for nursing programs are needed. These credit hours are spent with core courses such as Nursing Technique, Nursing Concepts, and Nursing Care of Children. Eventually, the students will be allowed to take NCLEX-RN once they are finished.

Regardless of the method they choose to become RN, the students will be on their ways to become one of the most rewarding occupations. If you need more information on nursing programs in Florida, you might want to check out related subjects such as LPN Degrees In Florida, RN Nursing degrees in Miami, LPN salary in Orlando, LPN schools in Tampa FL, and Certified Nursing Programs in Jacksonville. These will not only tell you what is available in these cities, but will also help you to be balanced when making your decision on a career in the Nursing field.

We will cover smaller towns and cities such as Juno Beach, New Smyrna Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Deltona, Daytona Beach, Clearwater, Altamonte Springs, Fort Myers, and Gainesville nursing programs in the coming months so stay tuned.

Just as demands for doctors soar, the positions like physician’s assistants, medical technicians, and especially licensed practical nurses (LPN) are in constant demand.

Just as demands for doctors soar, the positions like physician’s assistants, medical technicians, and especially licensed practical nurses (LPN) are in constant demand. In Michigan, if you want to pursue career as LPN, you must meet the fastidious requirements by the Board of Nursing of the Michigan Department of Community Health. Of these exacting requirements for in-state applicants is the Michigan Nursing School Certification form.

These Certification forms can be completed from attending the community colleges or universities as long as they are accredited by the Michigan Board of Nursing. You can check with someone in the Michigan Board of Nursing to check if your college or university is accredited. Or, you can search in the Internet to find the list of universities and community colleges that provide LPN trainings.

If you are confident about becoming LPN and have rather a flexible schedule, consider universities such as Northern Michigan University (NMU) in Marquette. At NMU, your journey to become LPN may be as short as just three semesters! Upon completion of all the trainings for LPN from NMU, you are entitled to take the NCLEX-PN (National Council Licensure Examination-Practical Nurse (NCLEX-PN), an exam for receiving license to practice as LPN. Along with the Certification form, NCLEX-PN is required by the Michigan Board of Nursing.

The applicant must have first successfully completed six prerequisite courses such as Human Anatomy and Physiology, Role Development in Nursing Practice, and Basic Pharmacology Skills. These prerequisite trainings are mandated by the NMU before the main courses for LPN can begin. Once the applicant has met the prerequisites, then the official training for LPN can begin. Unlike the prerequisites, the LPN training courses are designed more to teach applicants on practicality and pragmatic aspect of nursing. Students are exposed to courses like Fundamentals of Nursing and Medical-Surgical Nursing to learn the principles of nursing and face the various situations that are likely to occur in the actual practices.

What if you don’t have time to enroll in a full-time university? No worries, consider accredited community colleges like Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC) at Kalamazoo. To apply to KVCC, the applicant must submit high school transcript and/or college transcript. KVCC also requires prerequisites, but with the KVCC counselor’s approval, the students can take the prerequisites at KVCC or other community colleges. The key factor is that the student must pass with a 2.0 or better on these courses. Some courses in high school and college can be substituted for the prerequisites as well. There are other non-academic requirements such as undergoing criminal background check and fingerprinting.

As far as the official LPN training courses are concerned, they are very similar to those of the NMU. The students take courses such as Basic Nursing Skills and Care of the Family (Theory). Once the LPN training is completed, the students are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN, and once the passed score and other necessary documents are sent to the Michigan Board of Nursing, they can legally practice as LPN.

There are quite a few nursing programs in Texas, and if you are ready to take your caring attitude and put it towards the assistance of those in need, then this is the right move for you.

Some of the LVN nursing programs in Texas include the following cities. Houston, San Antonio, Fort Worth, Austin, Corpus Christi, and Dallas. While not all here will be discussed in this article, you will find more information on these cities, by visiting the cities page.

Concorde Career Colleges offers a course in Arlington Texas for those interested in Nursing Schools. They offer all the following programs in no particular order for those wanting to get into the medical field.

Advanced Respiratory Therapy

Dental Assistant

Dental Hygiene

Insurance Coding & Billing Specialist

Massage Therapy

Medical Administrative Assistant

Medical Assistant with Limited X-Ray

Medical Assistant

Medical Office Professional

Nursing

Patient Care Assistant

Patient Care Technician

Pharmacy Technician

Physical Therapist Assistant

Practical Nursing

Vocational Nursing

Radiologic Technology

Respiratory Therapy

Surgical Technology

This offers a wide variety for those who may want to get into a similar field. Another course which is available in San Antonio is TEXAS CAREERS. They offer Vocational Nursing. Houston Texas also has a similar school at the MEDVANCE INSTITUTE. These will both allow you to move forward with your choice to become a nurse. Obviously when you complete the courses you will have to decide if you will stay in Houston and be a nurse, or move. The pay in Houston for Nursing will vary, but because it is a large city, you will have quite a bit of opportunity to move up.

You might be looking at getting into the field of nursing. If so there are many things you will want to think about before just jumping in. Salary is usually one of the first things that comes to mind.

A Texas occupational health nurse may make a little less than someone living in one of the northern states such as Illinois, however states like Michigan also may pay a bit less because of the local economy.

Generally it is a good idea if you are more concerned with meeting the national pay scale of an Occupational Health Nurse to make sure the state and city you live in can live up to your expectations.

An Occupational Health Nurses wages in Massachusetts may be a bit more because of a sustained economy and higher retirement community. Florida is also similar because it is a state in which many people retire, and generally there is a growing need for senior citizens to get checkups and so forth.

Industrial nurses are paid approximately $65,000 per year, but this will continue to no doubt grow based on the need for qualified nurses not only in Hospitals, but also on job sites and at companies which is precisely what an Occupational Health Nurse does.

Ohio is a small state, but has some great nursing programs for those who are wanting to become an (RN) registered nurse or LPN. Some of the following are the top rated nursing schools.

Ashland University is a great RN School and college located in Ashland, OH and providing quality training to get you in the job place right away. Brown Mackie College is another school which can be attended for those living in or around Akron Ohio. There are plenty of nursing jobs that can be taken as soon as the full training has been completed for those who attend college in either city.

Besides our top 2 picks we have a few others that are noteworthy nursing schools in Ohio. Capital University in Columbus Ohio is another option for those who want a little more of city life, and of course there is Case Western Reserve University for those who want to be in the city of Cleveland.

What kind of salary can a registered nurse make in Cleveland or Akron you might ask? This will depend much on the competition between existing graduates in the area. However there is a shortage of registered nurse and LPN’s that the pay will probably be decent.
